Strimo

The problem

We were trying to livestream a ski competition in Voss. Freezing cold, cables everywhere, expensive equipment that barely worked. We thought: why can't we just use our phones?

What it does

Strimo lets multiple people film an event from their phones simultaneously. A director switches between camera angles in real time, and the combined stream goes straight to YouTube or an embedded player. No production gear or setup, just use your phones.

How it works

• Cameramen Open the app, join a session, and start filming. Each phone becomes a camera source streamed over WebRTC.
• Director One person sees all camera feeds and taps to switch the live output between angles, like a TV control room.
• Broadcast The server composites the selected feed and pushes it via RTMP to YouTube, or serves it through an embeddable HLS player.

Team

Built by three friends who wanted this tool to exist. I handled the mobile app and real-time streaming infrastructure. We used it to stream ski and cycling events around Western Norway.
