Background
Vinforum has been Norway's premier wine magazine since 1986. In 2024, they decided to pivot from their legacy platform to a modern website and CMS. Sondre, the lead developer, took on the project but needed extra hands as the January launch deadline approached. I joined in November 2025 as a consultant developer, and together we shipped the new platform on January 29, 2026.
My role
I joined the project as a consultant to help meet a tight deadline. It turned into an ongoing engagement, and I've continued to build features and improve the platform alongside Sondre.
Search was one of Vinforum's weakest points, with customers complaining about how slow it was and not finding what they were looking for. Replaced it with an open source search engine called Meilisearch, and now it's one of the strongest parts of the website. Find the tool that already solves the problem well.
